My story Butterfly as Metaphor is Australian Book Review’s story of the month!
More than 1,200 stories were entered in the competition for The Australian Book Review’s Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize. Butterfly as Metaphor received a commendation from the judges. I love the characters in this story and I’m so happy to have it winging its way into the world, along with Brian Tucker’s beautiful photo. You can read it here.
Ho hum. These accolades must be so mundane to you by now. 🙂
They remain surreal and terrifying. I know, I’m weird.:)
Woke up to this lovely message in my box. Thanks, Peter.
“And…done! Wonderful read, the kind of short story that makes you glad writers still hold dear the craft of characterisation AND narrative structure. If I read a hard copy of the text instead of reading it on my iPhone I’d have highlighted a good number of quotable lines and clauses!
Pleasure to read, Heather!”
Congratulations! It’s well deserved! And thanks for the kind encomium on my photo.
Thanks. And congrats to you on using ‘encomium’ in a sentence.
